Purple Lemonade-A Stand for Courage is a fundraiser started by a 6-year-old girl, in support of her sister Blair, who has Sanfilippo Syndrome. She held her first lemonade stand in May, in honor of MPS Awareness day and chose purple as a theme, since it represents the disease. As people learned about Blair and Sanfilippo they took to setting up their own stands, to help continue the fundraising.
From the inspiration of an amazing little girl the first stand was made, through the love and support of friends and family it has grown. Purple Lemonades stands are a great way to raise awareness and funds but it also serves another purpose, to give children a way to be involved and show you can make a difference at any age. If that’s not inspiration, I don’t know what is.
Determine a date and location. Hosting in your front yard is always easiest since you will have access to your kitchen for more supplies. However, if you can set up at a business, festival, or some other public gathering you will likely get more customers.
