Coney Island’s Inaugural Triathlon

Has everyone heard about the First Annual Triathlon being held in Coney Island?  This is huge for New Yorkers and for Coney Island, a place that was so devastated by hurricane Sandy.  This is a “Race to Rebuild”, and that is why it is so fitting that we have someone who has decided to participate in this history-making event for Jonah’s Just Begun.

Erik DeAngelis, of, Fight 40, a family friend and Jonah’s Just Begun supporter, is putting his heart and his body on the line to not only raise funds but to raise awareness about the life threatening disease, Sanfilippo Syndrome.

Erik’s son, Sebastian, is one of Jonah’s best pals; together they have frequented Park Slope parks and spend time building and crashing train sets.  “I feel that the Coney Island Triathlon is the perfect setting to fight for Jonah… in his home town.  We all have different reasons for participating, but I believe we are all fighting for something, in a place that has overcome so much”

About Erik & Fight 40

Erik is a 30 something, who is beginning a road of recovery and redemption.  He takes us on this journey chronicled in his blog, Fight 40, with humility, and raw humor.

Replacing his addictions with training and a positive mental attitude, Erik has channeled his energy into his family, his artwork, and now into raising awareness and funds for, Jonah’s Just Begun.  It’s people like Erik who keep JJB inspired.  It is never easy to expose yourself, and he is a hero in our eyes.
